About Us

The Carroll County Gun Club, founded in 1961,
is dedicated to the sport of Trap and other shooting
sports.  We are totally self sufficient, relying 100%
on our member's contribution of time and energy in
operating and maintaining the club and its facilities.

We have nine traps, including a doubles and wobble
trap, pattern board, covered deck, and air-conditioned
club house with full kitchen (open during all events and
 practice days/nights.

We are open to the public and encourage both young
and old to visit and learn what Trap shooting is all about.

1.  Eye and Ear protection is required (i.e. mandatory).
2.  No loads over 3 Drams  (# DE) or 1250 fps.
3.  No loads containing more than 1 1/8 ounces of lead shot.
4.  No lead shot size larger than #7.5  ─  shot size #6 or larger are prohibited.
5.  All uncased guns must be open and unloaded at all times.
6.  All guns must be pointed down range at all times.
7.  Guns can only be loaded when shooter is set on their shooting position on the Trap field.

All Club Members are also authorized Club Safety Officers - please respect their request if asked to correct a safety violation.  Shooters are expected to correct safety violations immediately, or they will be asked to leave.

Membership

We are always looking for serious shooters to join our membership.  Members must be sponsored by a minimum of two active members, know and promote all safety rules, and be willing to volunteer some time each month to maintaining club events, practice, facilities and/or grounds.

As such, please note the Carroll County Gun Club is a volunteer organization.  Simply put, this means that our members do all of the work of running our events, and maintaining our facilities and our grounds.  If we enjoy a reputation for excellence among gun Clubs in Maryland, it is because of the effort put forth by our members, each of whom is a full partner in the Club. Membership in the Club is open to any adult who is willing to make the commitment to take an active and continuing role in the work of maintaining our partnership.
